The Board is composed of a cross section of voluntary leaders living in the Bega Valley Shire

Mumbulla Community Foundation is managed by a voluntary board. Directors are people with extensive regional knowledge who have the ability to make a difference. Collectively we hold key knowledge and experience relevant to the operation of the Foundation.

Mick Pryke

Mick Pryke

Chair

Mick retired from corporate life in 2017, after a long and successful career in sales, marketing and general management in healthcare and IT managed services, working with both Australian and international organisations. Mick’s successes were built on building strong relationships and through a tight focus on positive financial performance. Mick and his wife Nellie moved to the Bega Valley in 2015, to Tarraganda, from Sydney. Along with his role as Chair of the Mumbulla Community Foundation, he is also a Board Member of Southern Cross Housing and a Board member of the Cobargo Community Development Corporation.

James Dangers

James Dangers

Board Director & Secretary

James Dangers has lived in the Bega Valley since 2005 and has a background in risk management, insurance, and internal audit. Other positions he has held include WHS, return to work coordination and human resources. Additionally, James has been a member of the Royal Australian Navy having served as a Combat Systems Operator. James has a Bachelor of Commerce and has an interest in developing cost-effective governance, knowledge and quality management systems aimed at improving corporate leadership and executive decision making.

Kaley Morrissey

Kaley has over 20 years’ experience working for not-for-profit organisations in a variety of areas including in Arts, Environment, and Humanitarian organisations. Her roles have been varied and have included finance, fundraising, project management and community development roles. She has previous experience on community organisation committees/boards. Currently working in Emergency Services as a ‘Recovery and Resilience Officer’ for Australian Red Cross, she supports people and communities before, during and recovering from disasters. Kaley holds a Bachelor of Arts (Law and Society) from the University of California (Santa Barbara) and certificates in Fundraising and Accounting.

Martin Booth

Martin retired from banking in 2020 after 35 years working in London, Tokyo, New York and latterly Sydney, first as Head of Risk and Compliance for Australia’s largest domestic fund manager and then as an Executive Director in Operational Risk, Governance and Compliance at another of the ‘big four’ banks. A long term visitor to Bermagui since 1996 and now living there full time, Martin is interested in giving back to the community, getting involved and building connections. Previous not-for-profit experience includes roles as Treasurer of Lambeth Mediation Service in the United Kingdom as well as of a small London pre-school.

Helen O'Neil

Bega Valley Shire Council Representative

With a background in policy and advocacy in creative industries, Helen O’Neil brings to Council a commitment to affordable housing and cultural tourism. Helen is Chair of South East Arts, the arts development organisation for Bega Valley, Eurobodalla and Snowy Monaro local government areas. She is also a member of the Advisory Council for Regional Arts NSW and serves as Deputy Chair of the ACT’s Cultural Facilities Corporation. Helen lives at Cuttagee with her husband. They have two adult children. Helen was elected in the 2021 local government elections as an endorsed Labor candidate. She has a strong record in executive leadership and policy as Australian head of the British Council, CEO of the Australian Major Performing Arts Group and deputy Chief of Staff to the Australian Minister for Regional Australia and the Arts Helen has a Masters degree in Public Administration from Harvard University, and originally trained as a journalist with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and The Age newspaper.

Lynne Koerbin

Lynne moved to Merimbula with her family in the mid 90’s and absolutely loves the Bega Valley. With a background in Occupational Therapy, she initially worked in community health and for the past 16 years has worked with people with a disability, strongly advocating from a rights based perspective for inclusion and equity of opportunity. She is dedicated to the principle of “do good in the world” and has been an active volunteer in the community she loves – umpiring and coaching hockey, working to build permanent classrooms and a hall at Merimbula Primary School, leading the project to build carers accommodation at South East Regional Hospital and various projects with Rotary, such as a visit to Timor Leste in 2012 to help distribute malaria nets. In 2018 Lynne was awarded an OAM for services to the community which she considers a tremendous honour.

Frank Muller

Board Director

Frank is an experienced independent director with a career in governance, strategy and public policy in Australia and the US. He has a long association with the Bega Valley and currently divides his time between Sydney and Bermagui. Frank is helping lead development of a more resilient and sustainable energy supply for Cobargo as part of the bushfire recovery. Frank’s board experience includes serving as a Commissioner of the National Transport Commission and director of the leading consumer organisation Choice. He previously headed sustainable development in the NSW Premier’s Department, among other federal and state government roles. Since the late 1980s, he has specialised in climate change policy, advising governments in Australia, US and developing countries. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has a Master in Public Administration from Harvard University.

 Sally Chamberlain

Board Director

Sally loves the Bega Valley, having visited regularly as a child to visit family and has many fond memories here. She has lived here since 2020, taking advantage of the lockdowns to move to this beautiful location.

She’s had a varied work life, working in Local Government as an Environmental Health Officer, and State Government in Food Safety Policy. She is now a homeschooling mum, celebrant, active volunteer and is studying towards a Masters in Counselling and the University of Canberra. Sally loves this area and enjoys giving back to the community.
