About Us

Mumbulla Community Foundation is supporting our local Bega Valley community

Mumbulla Community Foundation established in 2000, is the community foundation of the Bega Valley Shire. It raises money to provide grants to community groups and not-for-profit organisations in our local community. It also funds education scholarships, school book prizes and back-to-school vouchers.

Over the past 20 years, the Foundation raised and distributed over $1.9 Million. More than 300 deserving organisations have received funding from the Foundation. They include those providing valuable services for the aged and disabled, youth, families and children and other people in need as well as those involved in arts and cultural activity, emergency services, organisations concerned with education and community learning and the region’s heritage and environment.

Mumbulla Community Foundation and its associated Trust are managed by a volunteer Board of Directors who meet monthly and govern the Foundation in accordance with the Constitution. The Board is composed of a cross section of voluntary leaders living in the Shire and welcomes assistance from other local representatives. Mumbulla Community Foundation is registered with, and regulated by, the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC).

OUR STRATEGY 

CONNECT, ENGAGE & COLLABORATE WITH THE INDIVIDUALS & ORGANISATIONS WORKING TO IMPROVE THE BEGA VALLEY

We will:

  • Connect & engage with the communities of the Bega Valley to inform ourselves about the issues & opportunities that exist (via a network of volunteers).
  • Maintain a community ‘Knowledge Network’, supported by a database of Bega Valley organisations, groups, individuals and expertise.
  • Run community forums, roundtables & events to promote knowledge sharing & build networks.
  • Develop long-term ‘Knowledge Partnerships’ (e.g. BVSC, FRRR, Universities)

FUNDRAISE & FACILITATE PHILANTHROPIC ACTIVITIES

We will:

  • Fundraise (full fundraising strategy to be developed).
  • Help others source and/or secure funding.
  • Create pathways to philanthropic activities (placeholder).
  • Build & grow ‘Funding Partnerships’(e.g. Foundations, Bendigo Bank, Bega Cheese, iAccelerate)

SUPPORT, ENABLE & BACK INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANISATIONS

We will:

  • Act as an incubator/mentor to those individuals and organisations working to enhance the Bega Valley.
  • Connect individuals with expertise in the community with those who could benefit from it.
  • Distribute funds to local individuals & organisations (prioritising those who are grassroots/locally based).
  • Provide scholarships.
