Congratulations to Jane Hughes, Manager of the Bega Wom Ensouth Women’s Resource Centre representing the Southern Women’s Group, who has won an Elsie Award.
Jane and Jade from the Bega Women’s Resource Centre (WRC) attended the Elsie Conference at the University of Technology Sydney. The conference focused on domestic violence, honouring achievements in this field, addressing evolving issues, and discussing responses. It also recognized the unique challenges faced by diverse groups.
WRC reported: “The conference sessions were as enlightening as they were empowering. Topics ranged from the critical role of specialist women’s services in ending violence against women to the evolving challenges posed by technology-facilitated abuse. There were also eye-opening discussions on domestic violence within the LGBTQ+ community and the necessity of refuge responses tailored to their unique needs.”
