Back to School Program

Supported by the Foundation for Rural Regional Renewal (FRRR)

Our Back to School (BTS) program

Coordinated by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) and supported by generous corporate and private donors, the Back to School (BTS) program was a national initiative that helped remote and rural children access quality educational experiences. Since 2005, this practical, positive program has enabled thousands of students to engage in learning and improve their educational outcomes.

The Back to School program provided $50 gift vouchers to students in need, redeemable at Kmart. These vouchers were used for school uniforms, clothing, shoes, school bags, stationery, or anything that helped students feel prepared to learn.

FRRR has supported the Mumbulla Community Foundation in this program for over sixteen years, delivering over 4800 vouchers worth more than $302,000 to local Bega Valley Schools.

In 2024 alone, our Foundation distributed 410 ($50 each) vouchers across our schools and 76 ($100 each) technology vouchers. We delivered the vouchers to school principals, who then confidentially distributed them to local families. The identity of students receiving this support remains confidential between the principal and the family.

This year marked the final round of the Back to School program in partnership with the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal. We hope to continue supporting our Bega Valley students and families and are seeking donations to keep providing back-to-school vouchers to schools across the Bega Valley.

If you wish to support your local Community Foundation, consider donating today. Every contribution counts!

FRRR is a not-for-profit organisation that harnesses the power of collective investment between government, business and philanthropy to improve the lives of those living in rural, regional and remote Australia

The Back to School vouchers were received this week and we greatly appreciate the perfect timing, enabling the vouchers to go out to families before the end of the year. The $50 voucher is sure to be a much appreciated head start when purchasing clothing requirements for returning to school next year.  We greatly appreciate your continuing support of our school, families and community.
