This project involved Gabby Rose, a local dance practitioner from FLING Physical Theatre in Bega. She conducted weekly creative dance activities for preschool children at Cobargo Preschool.
It’s commendable, especially considering that most of the children at Cobargo Preschool were affected by the Black Summer Bushfires. These children have had less social interaction and, due to COVID-19, they couldn’t visit their usual swimming, dance, or gymnastics classes, resulting in fewer physical experiences.
Gabby’s dance workshops provided a wonderful opportunity for kids to participate, express themselves through dance, and improve their motor skills and cognitive development. Over the course of two terms, she shared her enthusiasm for movement and taught the children physical and performance skills. The project was very successful in helping them explore creative ideas and develop their sense of identity, self-worth, and resilience.
