The Bush&Us project has directly engaged with over 25 young people in the Bega Valley. Fifteen of these individuals were involved in co-creating the program at a series of youth forums, while the remaining ten participated in project work that transitioned from a traditional instructive learning approach to a project-based one.

The education program empowered young people to bring a creative sustainability project to life in their community. This shift allowed to focus more on program development and delivery rather than spending significant resources on legacy work.

Bush& Us’ projects include:

– Bin Not Beach – an education program for K-2 focusing on waste management and marine ecosystem health

– Talking Feelings Podcast – a podcast dedicated to conversations with young people about mental health and climate change

-How Hollow? – An infographic and citizen science project aimed at raising awareness about hollow-bearing trees and the importance of biodiversity in response to the Black Summer events

– Tura Library Mural – a community mural designed by two local Koori artists celebrating the local Tura Murrang country and community.
